چکیده
Alternative methods of control against different parasites affecting livestock and agriculture are currently being sought. The essential oil Peumus boldus Molina has anthelmintic insecticidal activity the nematode Haemonchus contortus stored cereal insect pests. present study aimed to assess in vitro P. H. (L3) unsheathed Sitophilus zeamais, Tribolium castaneum, Plodia interpunctella. was obtained from leaves its principal compounds identified by phytochemical analysis. Essential tested at concentrations 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 2.0 mg mL-1 on L3 larvae 0, 35, 70, 100, 125, 150, 175 200 μL L-1 air adult insects. main constituents detected were 1,8-cineole, terpineol, terpinene-4-ol, γ-terpinene, p-cimene, methyl eugenol, safrole, (E)-germacrene D, β-tujene, ascaridol. insects exposed for 72 h. In a bioassay with larvae, treatment showed highest toxicity 99.2% mortality. Regarding activity, S. zeamais most susceptible species mortality 90% air. suggests that potential activity.

Chemical Composition and Insecticidal Activity of Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) Essential Oil against Two Stored-Product Pests
Essential oil extracted from the leaves of Myrtle, Myrtus communis L. (Myrtaceae)was tested in vitro for volatile toxicity against two stored-product insects (Tribolium confusum and Callosobruchus maculatus). The chemical composition of the plant oil was examined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The major oil components were α-pinene (10.4%), α- Terpineol (10.1%), linalool (9.0%...
متن کاملContact toxicity and repellency of the essential oil of Liriope muscari (DECN.) bailey against three insect tobacco storage pests.
In order to find and develop new botanical pesticides against tobacco storage pests, bioactivity screening was performed. The essential oil obtained from the aerial parts of Liriope muscari was investigated by GC/MS and GC/FID. A total of 14 components representing 96.12% of the oil were identified and the main compounds in the oil were found to be methyl eugenol (42.15%) and safrole (17.15%), ...
متن کاملEYcacy of the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema riobrave against the stored-product insect pests Tribolium castaneum and Plodia interpunctella
Persistence of stored-product insects in hidden refugia and their subsequent movement into stored commodities resulting in product infestation contributes to their pest status and represents a potential target for biological control agents. Entomopathogenic nematodes have not been previously tested against stored-product insects in environments such as empty grain bins or food processing and wa...
متن کاملThe cytochrome P450 family in the parasitic nematode Haemonchus contortus
Haemonchus contortus, a highly pathogenic and economically important parasitic nematode of sheep, is particularly adept at developing resistance to the anthelmintic drugs used in its treatment and control. The basis of anthelmintic resistance is poorly understood for many commonly used drugs with most research being focused on mechanisms involving drug targets or drug efflux. Altered or increas...
